Legambiente participated in the training session on Marine Litter prior to the opening of the meeting of the Ecosystem Approach Correspondence Group on Marine Litter (CORMON) organized by UNEP/MAP. During the meeting, held on 28 February to 2 March 2017 in Madrid, marine litter monitoring best practices and efforts were presented to the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention to support the implementation of national monitoring programmes on marine litter.

Legambiente was invited, side by side to other key experts, thanks to the “extensive knowledge and experience regarding marine litter monitoring”.
The main task was to make a presentation on marine litter citizen engagement, including the organization and management of volunteers to carry out specific marine litter tasks, best-practices and lessons learnt, data management, and work undertaken in the Mediterranean.

We have reached this point thanks to all the volunteers that every year participate in our campaigns.
